Submission Workflow
CoU uses a quality-first workflow to make every research record reusable, citable, and discoverable across our programs. This supports student learning, faculty impact, and partner collaboration.
Prepare your files + metadata
Select output type, confirm authors (ORCID), add abstract, keywords, methodology tags, and funding/SDG links.
Upload & validate
System checks format, required fields, licensing, and ethical declarations (human data, consent, anonymization).
Compliance & quality screening
Editorial review ensures metadata completeness, policy alignment, and integrity checks (plagiarism signals where applicable).
Publish & track impact
Record is published to OpenPlus/Repository with citation export, usage metrics, and optional embargo settings.
Tip: If you are submitting a dataset, use the Data Sets page to prepare a DataCite/Dublin Core metadata-ready record.
Submission Requirements
The table below shows what’s required for common research outputs so submissions are consistent across all CoU schools and programs.
| Output Type | Minimum Required | Recommended Enhancements |
|---|---|---|
| Journal / Conference Paper | PDF, abstract, keywords, authors, affiliation, license, references | ORCID, funding info, SDG tags, code/data links, peer review statement |
| Dataset | Files (ZIP/CSV), description, variables, license, access level | Data dictionary, methodology, provenance, ethics declaration, DOI-ready metadata |
| Code / Software | Repository link, version, license, README | Container/requirements, tests, reproducibility steps, citation file (CITATION.cff) |
| Policy Brief / Report | PDF, executive summary, authors, date, license | Stakeholder tags, evidence sources, impact pathway, translation version |
| OER / Teaching Resource | Files, learning outcomes, level, license | Rubrics, accessibility checks, assessment items, embedding into program modules |
All submissions must comply with CoU ethics, privacy, and academic integrity standards. Sensitive data requires controlled access or anonymization.

Submission FAQ
How long does review take?
Most submissions complete screening within 24–72 hours. Complex ethics cases or sensitive data may require additional checks.
Can students submit research?
Yes. Student submissions are welcome, especially capstone projects, theses, datasets, and OER. A supervisor/mentor may be required depending on program policy.
What if my work is under embargo?
You can publish metadata immediately and release full content later. Embargo settings help protect partner agreements while preserving discoverability.
Do I need a DOI?
CoU supports DOI/identifier readiness. If your output needs global citation stability, the record can be issued with a persistent identifier where applicable.
